Piven

Do you know Hanoch Piven? He's an Israeli illustrator and caricature artist. We have a book at home with celebrity caricatures and I love it.
I thought that we could try to make portraits too from all kinds of materials. Of course I always imagine what I would do if I would have more time to prepare and actually make these things with the girls... as it is it usually happens squeezed in between coming home from daycare, making dinner, holding Yotam and many other things…

We took out the box with all the crafty stuff and tried to make simple faces.
Neomi loved it. Helen is still a bit small but she sat there for a long time absorbed in gluing and cutting...

I hope we will be able to try this again when the girls will be a bit older and I will have more time. Then we can paint the background, experiment more..

Dear Rahel,

I'm the person who wrote to you some time back to ask for advice on making the footprint T-shirt -- well, we made it for my husband's birthday, and though it was not as professional-looking as yours, it was great and he loved it :-) . Your family is so beautiful! I have two little girls, aged 3.5 and 3 months, and I love to look at your blog for simple ideas of crafts/projects I can do with my older girl, but also because it gives me a window into normal family life in Israel -- it's a nice reminder that all over the world, we are more similar than we are different. Thanks!
